About Tot To Teen Village

The Tot to Teen Village began its life in 1937 as the Tot Shop and Mattress Factory. It was started by William Penning as a second job to help feed his family during the great depression. With his wife Helena's help he sold used furniture, which he refurbished in his spare time, and stuffed cotton filled mattresses. William's son Robert soon became involved with the business and after returning home from WW2 he took over. He greatly expanded the product mix adding toys, gear and clothing to augment what was now all new furniture. After moving through several locations Robert had the current Kilgore road location built in 1965 and changed the name to The Tot To Teen Village. Now with Robert's son David as owner Tot To Teen has become a 3rd generation family owned and operated business. We are one of Michigan's largest children's speciality stores. Because of our large selection of Baby as well as Teen furniture people drive from miles around to shop here. We also carry an extensive selection of clothing from preemie through girl's size 14 and boy's size 7. Don't forget to check out the strollers, auto seats, travel systems, bunk beds, bedding and wall decor. Please pay us a visit, it's worth the drive.
