For the past 19 years, August 1 - 7 have been set aside as World Breastfeeding Week. This year, it was recognized in over 170 countries. La Leche League USA reports that World Breastfeeding Week celebrations in our country actually span a 5 month period from May through September.
The American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, World Health Organization and UNICEF all support breastfeeding as the best way to feed most newborns for the first year. Breastfeeding is a natural way for mothers and babies to bond, and breast milk usually contains all the nutrients, growth factors, hormones and antibodies a baby needs to grow and stay healthy.
We understand that the decision to breast or bottle feed your baby is a highly personal and sometimes complicated decision. We suggest that you consult your doctor, talk with friends and family about their experiences, and take a look at the many excellent resources (including the links above) that you can find online if you are unsure about which is best for you.

Here's how.
