Keeping Baby Safe
Creating a safe environment for raising baby takes care and knowledge. Being more aware of the products in and around your home is critical and will usually become second nature to you as your little one grows.
Here are a few important basics to remember:
Adult Supervision – The only sure-fire way to keep your baby safe is direct supervision when juvenile products are in use.
Read Instructions and Warnings – For safest product use, always read and follow all manufacturers’ instructions and warning labels.
Second-Hand Products – Second-hand products are not recommended to be used for baby. If it is necessary to use older products, make sure they have all current safety features, the product is fully functional and not broken or missing any parts, and it has not been recalled. (See CPSC information under “Safety News”.)
Safest Option – Use new products meeting current safety standards.
Inspection During Use – Inspect products frequently for missing parts, loose threads and strings, holes, tears and other potential dangers for baby.
Discontinue Use – Monitor your child’s growth and development. Discontinue using a product as your baby reaches the limits defined by the manufacturer.
